Classes

Our weekly courses lay the foundations and improve our dance.

We see Brazilian Zouk as a complex dance with many qualities that you can play with. That's why we want to teach precisely these facets in the courses.

If you want to feel free and connected at the same time or express yourself through dance, Zouk is the perfect dance for you. This dynamic couple’s dance embodies joie de vivre and flow. If you simply want to try something new where you can have fun and meet new people, or if you want to start a hobby with your partner that serves as a balance, then simply sign up for a course and get to know our open-minded community.

As Brazilian Zouk is a fairly young dance, you can decide which role – leader or follower – you want to learn. Just do what you feel most like doing.
Zouk can be recognized by its smooth, flowing movements. It typically alternates between small, delicate and large, sweeping movements, as well as turns and swirls of the dancers in the couple. The dance becomes what you make of it. You can fully express your creativity and draw inspiration from other dances or styles.

An important feature of Zouk is that the dance takes place as a dialog between the two partners and that the movements are empathetically responded to.

Basics

We can’t learn the basic elements of Zouk often enough. Once we know the basics, we can build everything on top of them.

Figures

We learn combinations of turns, step variations, body waves, and the famous head movements.

Technique

As a demanding dance, technique is crucial to ensure safety for ourselves and our partners, and to fully enjoy the experience.

Connection

The many variations of Zouk and the delicate art of leading and following require a strong connection between partners. We also practice and experience this.

Musicality

Dancing is a threesome: with ourselves, our partners, and the music. We learn to understand and interpret the music.

The Zouk feeling

Zouk brings a unique dance sensation: a strong presence, elasticity between dancers, and grounding.
